What does AP (Artist Proof) mean?
AP stands for Artist Proof . These are prints made in addition to the numbered main print run, and were traditionally used by the artist to check quality and detail before the rest of the print run was produced.

AP prints are marked with “AP” instead of a number (for example, AP 1/2) and are made in very limited numbers, not to exceed 10% of the print run. They are considered part of the print run, but have an extra closeness to the artist’s own process – making them particularly attractive to collectors.
